FOLKWAVES Returned on MAY 1ST
The new FOLKWAVES programme was uploaded to the internet at noon on May 1st.
After just three days the show has had over five hundred plays by visitors to the site, some of whom have left some great comments to welcome Mick and Lester back.
Official Launch
On the day the launch, there was an event held at a club in Belper, Derbyshire in the evening and loads of supporters came along to say hello.
To open the evening, there was a dance display in the concert room by the Winster Morris Men and we thank them for coming along and getting the party started in style.
After the dance display, Alan Morley of UK Folk Music took the microphone to welcome everyone and say a few words about how the programme had been brought back. He then introduced Mick and Lester who were delighted that the time had finally come to officially launch the show.
At eight o'clock the Folkwaves pilot programme was played to the audience who gave a huge cheer as the theme tune struck up. The show ran for an hour and got another round of applause at the end.
Music Session
After the show we held a music session
which was lead by Keith Kendrick and Sylvia Needham. So, many thanks to them and to all the performers who treated us all to an hour or so of some lovely music and song.
Too many performers to mention them all but some of the better known names included:
Lucy Ward
David Gibb and Elly Lucas
Sarah Matthews
Doug Eunson
Oli Matthews
A really big thank you to everyone that came along to help give Folkwaves - Mick and Lester a night to remember.
